Peacockannounced this morning thatUniversal Pictures musical sensationWicked, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, will begin streaming exclusively on the service beginning March 21, along with the Sing-Along version and other bonus content.
The biggest Broadway adaptation of all-time globally, at a worldwide gross of more than $727 million,Wickedwon this years Golden Globe for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and is currently up for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
The first in a two-part adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical of the same name, which is itself based on the bestselling novel by Gregory Maguire, the film examines the origins of Elphaba (Erivo), who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West (ofThe Wizard of Ozfame), and her complex relationship with Glinda (Grande), the Good Witch.
