It returned for a third season on Showtime in 2017.
The project was eventually dropped by Warner Bros., but the two became good friends.
They later teamed on what turned out to be the TV showTwin Peaks.
Lynch had been diagnosed with emphysema.
His family announced his passingon social mediabut did not provide a date of death.
