The thing is, Victor, as an actor or filmmaker, never telegraphs anything.

There are so many layers to Agnes, each one slowly peeled back and leading to yet another.

Hedges is appealing as a genuinely nice guy who helps Agnes to trust men again.

And veteran actor Lynch is great in his brief screen time.
