The 56thNAACP Image Awards, which honor the years best in Black achievement and excellence, wrapped up Saturday night by namingKeke Palmerits Entertainer of the Year, the groups marquee award.

Deon Cole emceed the ceremony at the Pasadena Civic Center, where honorary awards were given toKamala Harris, who received the Chairmans Award; BET Media Group, which received the Founders Award; and Dave Chappelle, who received the Presidents Award and gave an impassioned speech, saying he was invigorated in receiving what he called the most important award he had ever received.

Palmer, the multihyphenate actor-podcaster-host who won an Image Award earlier this week for hostingPassword, beat out a loaded group for the Entertainer of the Year honor, winning over Cynthia Erivo, Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Hart and Shannon Sharpe.

In other big awards tonight, Tyler PerrysThe Six Triple Eightwas named Outstanding Motion Picture, an honor that came right after its starKerry Washingtonwon Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.

Earlier in the week, the war drama won Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture, while castmember Ebony Obsidian won for Breakthrough Performance.

Martin Lawrence, meanwhile, won the Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture prize tonight forBad Boys: Ride or Die.

Kamala Harris

In TV, Queen Latifah (The Equalizer) and Michael Rainey Jr. (Power Book II: Ghost) won in the Actress and Actor drama races, respectively, while Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) and Damon Wayans (Poppas House) won for Comedy actress and actor, respectively.

The Wayans Family was also inducted into the NAACP Hall of Fame during the ceremony, with the clan reminiscing onstage about their legacy.

Also tonight,Morris Chestnut emceed a segmenthighlighting those impacted by the wildfires in the historically Black neighborhood of Altadena, the stage filling with the towns residents as Ledisi performed with the Adam Blackstone Band.

Tonight was the culmination of two nights of pre-show awards earlier in the week, with winners includingBeyoncetaking Outstanding Female Artist and Outstanding Album of the Year, Doechii winning Outstanding New Artist, and Chris Brown winning Outstanding Male Artist in the music categories.

Other winners announced earlier this week included Ayo Edebiri for Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television) forThe Bear, Jamie Foxxs stand-up specialJamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was, and Samuel L. Jackson and Taraji P. Henson.
