As it announced the honor,Frances Cesar academy recalled the actresss performances as Vivian Ward in Garry MarshallsPretty Womanopposite Richard Gere, which earned her a Golden Globe for Best Actress and an Academy Award nomination.
It also highlighted the variety of her credits spanning romantic comedies such asMy Best Friends WeddingandNotting Hillto dramas such asThe Pelican BriefandErin Brockovich, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2001.
