It was a fantastic night for bothFXand The WaltDisneyCompany, whichbroke a range of recordsat this years Emmys.
DEADLINE:How are you feeling about last nights achievements?
I think we counted up 297 people that were associated with the 93 nominations.

Thats thrilling when you see those things.
DEADLINE:Do you believe these awards are important?
But really what you have any influence over at all is the work itself, right?

Frankly, thats what you spend your time doing.
All of us at the company, sort of have a stake in what its taken.
Its worthy of debate, but I think its a fair comparison.
I personally like the way Disney has organized itself.
What you would make it for as a global streaming service.
Did we make it in part for FX?
LANDGRAF: I really appreciate what Richard had to say.
DEADLINE:Whats the official status of Season 2 ofShogun?
Has it been officially greenlit?
I gather that the writers room has been up and running.
Where are you now with it?
LANDGRAF: Were moving forward.
DEADLINE:Hiromentioned that he hopes to shoot some of it in Japan.
LANDGRAF: Ive always wanted to shoot in Japan.
We tried really hard to figure out how to shoot this show in Japan.
DEADLINE:Are you thinking of shooting Seasons 2 and 3 together?
Would you shoot them back-to-back?
LANDGRAF: No, theyre separate narratives.
Theyre all part of one continuous narrative, with, with continuing characters, but theyre separate narratives.
DEADLINE:Moving on toThe Bear, that show broke its own Emmys record.
LANDGRAF: Its the best.
I just think shes extraordinary.
Thats thrilling to me.
Liza has been around, shes been acting for a long, long time.
Thats the thing I love the most, thats where I think theres still magic in this business.
I think the Emmys are always unpredictable.
They always have been, and they always will be.
Thats what makes it interesting, you never know for sure.
DEADLINE:Is there any suggestion that the conversation aroundThe Bearnot really being a comedy prevented that win?
LANDGRAF: I dont know, I really dont.
Ive been in this a long time, and I cant tell you.
Ive never audited the votes so I dont know what drives it.
I could come up with many different theories and still wouldnt know which one.
DEADLINE:Youve filmed some of Season 4 but havent finished it, is that right?
Will it be ready to air at the same time next year?
LANDGRAF: It will be.
We finished most of it.
Are you feeling any better now?
LANDGRAF: I do.
We havent decided what the next pilots were going to make but I think we have some excellent candidates.
DEADLINE:Have you thought about next years Emmys?
Youll have another season ofThe Bearand youve got shows likeAlien, American Sports StoryandSay Nothing.
Theres been some pretty heavy hitter names involved in every other limited series besidesBaby Reindeer, right?
Noah Hawley and Steve Zaillian… so who would have predicted.
You just dont know.
