The game can be a little unsettling, says Dennis.

Despicable Me 4 The Movie

Its creepy in the best way.

At the same time, its funny and tongue-in-cheek, clearly echoingAlien, Star Trek, andThe Thing.

Heres a Q&A with creator, showrunner and executive producer Dennis.

DEADLINE:Hi Owen.

The game is a mix of humor and, for want of a better word, murder.

How did you recreate the tone for a television audience?

The game can be a little unsettling.

Its creepy in the best way.

At the same time, its funny and tongue-in-cheek, clearly echoingAlien, Star Trek, andThe Thing.

Bring people in with some jokes then scare them.

As a creative what does that tell you about what CBS Studios/Paramount feel about the project?

It exudes confidence in our show.

Can we assumeAmong Uswill be targeted at adults?

What else can you say about the target audience?

The target market is anyone who has played the game and anyone who is interested.

One out of every 13 phones on theentire planet.500 million monthly active users?

4 billion views on Youtube?

When the trailer dropped a couple months ago it got 8 million views in the first couple days.

Ive seen these characters graffitied on playgrounds.

Ive seen people post a picture of a trash can and say Look, itsAmong Us.

With this much widespread appeal, the question is more whoisntin the target audience of this show?

Artistically, what drew you to this project?

Theres this rule in animation that all expression comes from the eyes.

Thats why eyes are often so large relative to peoples heads in animation.

Well, what if you have a whole show featuring characters that have no eyes?

Not only that, but no mouths?

No faces at all?

Well, I thought that sounded like a fun challenge and I think we pulled it off.

How well did you know the game before you began working on this?

Alright, time to admit it, Im not really good at playing this game, haha!

The game involves deceiving other players and Ive never been a good liar.

It makes me too paranoid!

So I end up getting caught up in whatever the group is trying to do.

Those are the core aspects I took away from playing this game.

Who had the initial idea for the adaptation?

Innersloth reached out to me after seeing my previous showInfinity Train.

What was your initial plan when you began to adapt the IP?

Its a very character-based show.

What stage is the project at now?

All finished and wrapped in a bow.
