Watch on Deadline
MIKE MARINO: The actual direct inspiration was Adam Pearson.
It had to have the same feeling.
DEADLINE: Tell me about the stages of the prosthetics.
A DIFFERENT MAN, Sebastian StanA24/Courtesy Everett Collection
MARINO: So, theres a few stages.
When he peels that off, underneath is another makeup hes wearing thats slightly distorting his facial features.
And then ultimately the next scene, hes Sebastian Stan.
Hes the new character.
Thats about four stages, and it was hard to make the very soft one.
So then when he stretches it, its all this really stretchy cocoon-like shell going on.
So that was definitely a tricky thing to even pull off.
DEADLINE: And what is that last prosthetic itself made out of?
Is it a different material from the others that makes it so soft and difficult to work with?
MARINO: Its all the same material.
Its just varied in density of silicone.
Therere ways to vary the softness of things.
Like for instance, onThe Penguin, I made certain aspects of that makeup harder, like the nose.
